Terms and Conditions
1. General Agreement
By engaging Remote Movers (“the Company”), the Customer agrees to these Terms and
Conditions. These apply to all residential, commercial, office, warehouse, and interstate
relocation services.
2. Quotations and Pricing
• All quotations are based on information provided by the Customer regarding:
o Volume and type of goods
o Access conditions
o Required services
• Quotes are estimates only unless confirmed in writing as fixed.
• The final cost may vary where:
o Information provided is inaccurate or incomplete
o Additional items or services are required
o Access conditions differ from what was declared
o Additional labour, time, or equipment is needed
• Additional charges may apply for:
o Stairs, long carry distances, or restricted access
o Parking, tolls, congestion charges or permits
o Balcony lifts or specialized equipment
o Disconnection or reconnection of appliances
• Where parking is unavailable within 25 meters of the property, extra charges may apply.
• Hourly or half-hourly rates are not fixed pricing. Time estimates are indicative only and
may vary based on:
o Volume of goods
o Accessibility
o Weather and traffic conditions
o Complexity of the move
3. Flat Rate Moves – Time Allowances
For fixed-price or volume-based moves, the following loading and unloading time allowances
apply:
• 5m3: Up to 30 minutes for loading and 30 minutes for unloading
• 10m3: Up to 1 hour for loading and 1 hour for unloading
• 15m3: Up to 1.5 hours for loading and 1.5 hours for unloading
• 20m3: Up to 2 hours for loading and 2 hours for unloading
• 25m3: Up to 2.5 hours for loading and 2.5 hours for unloading
• 30m3: Up to 3 hours for loading and 3 hours for unloading
• 35m3: Up to 3.5 hours for loading and 3.5 hours for unloading
• 40m3: Up to 4 hours for loading and 4 hours for unloading
• 50m3: Up to 5 hours for loading and 5 hours for unloading
• 65m3: Up to 6.5 hours for loading and 6.5 hours for unloading
If loading or unloading exceeds the allocated time, additional charges of $149 + GST per hour
will apply.
4. Booking, Deposits & Payments
4.1 Deposits
• A deposit is required to secure all bookings:
o Local moves: Minimum of two (2) hours
o Interstate moves: 30%–50% of total cost
• Deposits are non-refundable unless cancelled at least 14 days prior.
4.2 Accepted Payment Methods
• Cash
• Bank transfer (cleared funds only)
• Credit/Debit Card (Visa, Mastercard, AMEX)
• A surcharge of up to 3% applies to card payments.
• Cheques and account payments are not accepted.
4.3 Payment of Balance
• Local moves: Payment must be made before completion of unloading
• Interstate moves: Payment must be completed prior to delivery
• The Company reserves the right to withhold delivery until full payment is received.
• The Customer must not withhold payment due to disputes, including damage claims.
4.4 Failure to Pay
If payment is not made:
• Goods may remain on the truck and waiting time will be charged
• Goods may be placed into storage at the Customer’s expense
• Additional charges will apply, including:
o Storage fees
o Redelivery costs
o Additional handling charges
• Outstanding accounts may be referred to a debt collection agency. All associated costs
will be payable by the Customer.
5. Booking Timeframes & Delays
• Only first time slots (7:00 AM / 8:00 AM) are guaranteed.
• All other bookings are arrival windows only.
• Delays may occur due to:
o Traffic or weather
o Previous job overruns
o Operational requirements
• No compensation or liability applies for delays.
• Truck travel times may exceed normal car travel times. No adjustments will be made
based on private vehicle comparisons.
6. Cancellations
• 14+ days before move:
o No additional charges beyond deposit
• Within 14 days:
o Deposit is forfeited
o Minimum charges may apply
7. Customer Responsibilities
The Customer agrees to:
7.1 Provide Accurate Information
• Declare all items, including:
o Fragile goods
o Heavy items (80kg+)
o Specialty items (pianos, pool tables, etc.)
7.2 Property & Access
• Disclose all access conditions (stairs, lifts, restrictions)
• Notify of height or access limitations
7.3 Parking & Permits
• Provide parking within 25 meters
• Arrange and pay for permits, tolls, and fees
7.4 Packing & Preparation
• Ensure all goods are:
o Fully packed prior to arrival
o Securely packed for transport
• The Customer must:
o Empty all drawers and appliances
o Disconnect electronics
o Ensure fridges are empty
• The Company is not liable for damage caused by poor packing.
7.5 Packing Materials
• The Customer must request required packing materials in advance
• Additional trips to collect materials will be charged at the applicable hourly rate
7.6 Attendance & Supervision
• The Customer (or representative) must be present at pickup and delivery
• The Customer must:
o Check the truck before departure
o Ensure all items are unloaded
• The Company is not responsible for missing items if checks are not completed.
7.7 Safety & Compliance
• Declare any dangerous or restricted goods
• Ensure compliance with transport regulations
7.8 Failure to Comply
Failure may result in:
• Additional charges
• Delays
• Refusal of service
The Company is not liable for resulting losses or damages.
8. Ownership of Goods
The person booking confirms they are:
• The owner of the goods, or
• Authorized to act on behalf of the owner
They accept full responsibility for payment and instructions.
9. Interstate & Backloading
9.1 Backload Services
• Shared service – timing is not guaranteed
• Pickup/delivery may occur anytime (including overnight)
• Delays are expected due to logistics
9.2 Sole Use Service
• Priority scheduling available at additional cost
10. Insurance & Limited Guarantee
• The Company provides:
o Public liability insurance
o Limited transit insurance (major incidents only)
• Transit insurance typically covers:
o Vehicle accidents
o Fire
o Overturning
• The Customer is responsible for arranging additional insurance if required.
10.1 Conditional Guarantee (Wrapped Items Only)
• If items are professionally wrapped by the Company:
o They are guaranteed against breakage during transit
• If damaged:
o The Company may repair, replace, or compensate at market value
• Wrapping fees apply ($10–$50 per item depending on size/value)
10.2 Guarantee Conditions
The guarantee is only valid if:
• Items are proven to be in good condition before the move
• Damage is reported before sign-off
• The Customer is present at delivery
The guarantee is void if:
• Items are not inspected at delivery
• Items were not packed as recommended
• Damage is internal with no external evidence
11. Loss and Damage Claims
• Claims must:
o Be submitted in writing within 7 days
o Include supporting evidence
• Claims are assessed within 14–28 business days
• Compensation is determined at the Company’s discretion.
Payment must still be completed regardless of claims.
12. Exclusions of Liability
The Company is not liable for:
• Poor packing by the Customer
• Undeclared items
• Pre-existing damage
• Internal damage without visible external signs
• Items over 80kg not declared
• Delays beyond control
• Mechanical or electrical faults
• Natural events or deterioration
The following are not covered under any guarantee:
• Artwork, antiques, jewelries, valuables, cash
• Items exceeding $1,000 in value
• Fragile specialty items unless agreed in writing
13. Limitation of Liability
Liability applies only where negligence by the Company is clearly proven.
14. Refusal of Service
The Company may:
• Refuse unsafe jobs
• Refuse undeclared items
• Suspend service for non-payment
15. Governing Law
• These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Victoria, Australia.
• If any clause is deemed invalid, the remaining terms remain enforceable.
16. Interpretation
• Singular includes plural and vice versa
• References to gender include all genders
• Rights and limitations remain enforceable even in the event of breach
